May 27, 2023 · Does anyone know what movies are available as Open Matte versions or imax version for purchase and not just for streaming. Is there a list available somewhere of all movies that were or are available for sell that include the Open Matte or imax version.

Oct 5, 2019 · I searched a lot for a complete list of open matte movies, but what I have found are meagre lists with just few dozen titles (when I was lucky!); so, I thought it was time to compile a comprehensive list, THE master list… currently, there are more than 2000 entries!

Open matte can be used with non- anamorphic films presented in 2.20:1 or 2.39:1, but it is not used as often, mainly because it adds too much additional headroom, depending upon how well the framing was protected or for aesthetic purposes.

Documenting mainly movies shot in an open matte, including scope movies shot in normal flat 35mm and Super 35, and a few select digitally produced movies with an open matte on some video releases, and presented as anamorphic in theaters.
